Daily Productive Sharing 365 - How Does Wordpress Change the World?
One helpful tip per day:)

#Misc
David Pierce recently wrote a great interview that features Matt Mullenweg of Automattic, the CEO of the Wordpress parent company.
Automattic is one of the largest privately held companies in the Internet industry;
43% of the world's websites run on the Wordpress platform, and Matt wants more of them to run on it;
David jokes that Automattic is called that because Matt has embedded his name in the word automatic;
Matt has a very broad vision and believes that only a subscription model can replace the current ad-based business model; that only a truly free platform can replace the current closed platform;
in terms of corporate governance, Matt places great emphasis on transparency and a flat structure where employees can read all kinds of internal documents, even the records of an acquisition of a company.
at the same time, Matt has his own management style, which can be summarized by the story of The Little Prince: 'If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.'

David Pierce 最近写了一篇非常精彩的人物访谈。故事的主角是 Automattic 的 Matt Mullenweg,也就是 Wordpress 母公司的 CEO:
Automattic 是互联网行业最大的私有公司之一;
全世界有43%的网站运行在 Wordpress 平台上,而 Matt 希望有更多的网站运行在这一平台上;
David 开玩笑说,Automattic 之所以叫这个名字是因为 Matt 把自己的名字嵌到了 automatic 这个词里;
Matt 有非常宽广的视野,他坚信只有订阅模式才能够取代目前广告为主的商业模式;只有真正自由的平台才能取代目前封闭的平台;
在公司治理上,Matt 非常强调透明和扁平化结构,员工可以阅读各种内部文档,甚至包括收购某家公司的记录;
同时,Matt 有着自己的管理风格,可以用《小王子》的故事来总结:‘If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.’
